Just a quick update for you all.

The deadline for artists to submit work was February 28, and it was firm and fast. Anything received after that date is not accepted, nor will it be acknowledged.

The jurying is complete. Emails have gone out.

A few questions I have received are as follows:

How many works are you accepting for the show?

About 65-70 depending on the size. If there are a greater number of works that are larger in size that are accepted, then it will be less. There were over 155 submissions, so it is going to be a tough go for the jury.

Are all artists accepted?

See above.

When will I find out?

All emails with jury results has been sent out. If you entered and did not receive yours, send me a note.

I am paying a submission fee to have my work included in the show, so why I am required to give an hour of my time on opening night?

All expenses for the show, including advertising, printing of labels and posters, prizes (if there are any), catering etc, is all done from artist entries. Depending on how many artists enter, I could break even or I might be subsidizing the show from my own funds. I am not paid to do the show (I wish!), I do not receive anything from the winery to put the show on, nor I do not receive anything from the artist commission.

I do the entire show by volunteer of my own hours. That includes all the Call to Artists, the concept, the graphic design, the web pages, the advertising, the answering of emails, the catalog concept, creation and design, everything. All I am asking you, is that if you are accepted in to the show, to give one hour on opening night, to make the show run smoother. Or, if you are interested in helping with any of those things I just listed, I would be very happy to know.

Last few years, I did not require this of the artists, and instead asked for volunteers to give one hour. A few artists stepped forward and they were a tremendous help. Other artists who were in the show, just stood there, and didn’t bother to ask if there was anything to do, or if they could help. I felt that was extremely unfair to everyone else who was volunteering the time they gave.

So yes, one hour will give many hands to make light work. Then we can all have fun.

Can I ask a friend to stand in my place as volunteer?

Absolutely yes. I need a body from you – whether it is yours, or someone else’s, is just fine. If you want to give two bodies, then the more the merrier. :-) Send me that info by April 15.

Can I still volunteer if I did not get in the show?

Absolutely yes!! Thank you for your warm heartedness!!

Can I help set up (or take down) as part of my volunteering?

Absolutely yes. Send me a note!
