2011 Okanagan Erotic Art Show

This is an update for the artists regarding the show coming next month. Please feel free to send me any questions – this email will also be posted on the site (without your email addresses of course.)

Please remember to have the artwork there before Aug 28. If you want to send now, by all means. Send with tracking if at all possible. When artwork is received, I will send you a note back to confirm its arrival. What you ship your work in, is what I am going to be shipping it back to you if it does not sell. If you are Canadian, please include a cheque with your artwork to cover shipping costs back. If you are American, you can check costs for return address at http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/far/personal/findARate?execution=e1s2
(this should be the Find a Rate for the US). A cheque (in Canadian funds) to cover these costs can be included – or you can paypal the amount to me after the show.

Prizes
This is the first year I have been able to offer prizes. I am excited about this development, I hope you are too. I had 103 artwork submissions, and the jury (the winery owners, not me) accepted about 60. The entire art show itself is funded by the artist entries, and I do not (yet) draw any sort of income from it. The commission from any of the artwork sales go directly to the winery. This year, the prizes will be as follows:
Winery’s Choice: a case of 2008 Night Wine, valued at $480
2nd Prize: $200
3rd Prize: $100
People’s Choice, chosen on Opening Night, is an Ex Nihilo Gift Basket Valued at $100.

Opening Night will be September 1, 7-10 pm. There is no cost to enter, but a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of Breast Cancer Research is gladly accepted.. Last year, the show donated just over $500 generated on donations, and I hope to double that amount this year. Opening Night: if you are planning on attending, and I hope you do! please consider dressing up… or down.. – in any manner you wish – it’s a great way to distinguish artists from attendees – great conversation starters if you are visiting from out of town, and don’t know anyone. I can have nametags for you if you want to wear them, send me a note back – some people don’t like nametags, and I am not forcing anyone to wear them or not… or if you want to make your own, no problem. But do tell me if you plan to attend opening night.

Artwork Placement: A few have written back and asked to help on placing their artwork. While I appreciate the manpower, yes, you can help with the general setting up, but the placements have been decided, and my decisions are final. I want a smooth setting up day, so if you have any requirements by all means send them in Now. For those of you who have already, thank you very much for your forethought, these have been taken in to account.

Press release, request for comments: I am in the process of writing the press release – if you could take a few minutes and send me a few comments that I can use for the press release ie why you applied for the show, or anything you would like to say, that will help me out. I will not be able to use everyone’s – but as I write articles for the blog, I can add these in. I will also be writing a release that you can adjust for your own area, to send out to your own newspapers. If any of these are printed, please take a picture of the newspaper article and send back to me, or a link or something that I can put on the site.

Poster: a web jpg of the poster (and a postcard) is activated (click links). If you would like to have a downloadable printable poster for your own records or such, it is available here. If you live in Canada, I am pretty sure I can send it to a Staples store near you just send me a note back of which one.

Book catalog: Depending on how things go this week, I may be able to do the book. If you do not remember what this is about, on your submission form, there is a line where you needed to initial to give me permission to have your entry included in the book. If you did not initial, I will not be including your entries. If you would like to change that, you need send me an email now.
